Hisab ("we", "our", "the app") is a bookkeeping app for shop owners to track customer credit, payments, bills, and inventory. This page explains what information Hisab collects, how it's used, and how you can delete it.

What we collect

  • Your phone number and a PIN — used to sign in. There is no OTP/SMS verification step; the phone number is simply your account username. Your PIN is stored as a one-way hash, never in plain text.
  • Your shop and business data — shop name, the names/phone numbers/addresses of your own customers and suppliers, transaction amounts and notes, bills, items, staff records, and cashbook entries. This is the core ledger data you enter to use the app.
  • Photos you choose to attach — e.g. a photo of a receipt on a transaction, or a product photo on an item. Optional; only uploaded if you attach one.
  • Approximate shop location (city/region) — if you grant location permission, we resolve your device's coordinates to a city/region label (e.g. "Dakor, Gujarat") using your device's own operating system, and store that label. Precise GPS coordinates are never sent to or stored on our servers.
  • Phone number and SIM information (Android only) — if you turn on "SMS from my number" reminders, the app reads your device's SIM slot info and phone number so it can send a payment-reminder SMS through your own SIM. This is only used at the moment you choose to send a reminder; we don't otherwise read your call logs, contacts, or other SMS messages.

What we don't do

  • No ads, ever.
  • No analytics or advertising SDKs of any kind — nothing tracks your usage.
  • We never sell or share your data with third parties.
  • Your customers' and suppliers' data is visible only to your own shop account — it is never shared with them directly by us (you control what you share, e.g. a statement link).

Where your data lives

Hisab's backend runs on infrastructure we operate ourselves, not a third-party data broker. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) between the app and our servers.

How long we keep it

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists — there is no automatic expiry or silent deletion.

Deleting your data

Open the app, go to More → Account Settings → Delete my account, type your shop name to confirm, and tap Delete. This permanently and immediately removes your shop, customers, suppliers, transactions, bills, items, staff, and cashbook records from our servers. This can't be undone, so export any data you want to keep first (Settings → Export all data).

If you no longer have access to the app, email us at the address below and we'll delete your account on request once we can verify it's you.
